Acute Care Research

The acute care nursing research group in the Faculty of Health, Sport and Science (HeSAS) is one of six research groups within the Care Science Research Unit (CSRU). The group has a growing research profile and has recently been successful in attracting external research funding.

Academic staff have a wide range of research expertise in quantitative (including systematic reviews), qualitative and mixed research methods. We aim, wherever possible, to work collaboratively with other health and social care institutions (particularly partner NHS Trusts), professionals and other relevant bodies.

The aim of the group is to develop, conduct and disseminate high quality research that will:

  • Inform nursing practice and the provision of care in acute care settings
  • Contribute to policy development in health and social care
  • Inform learning and teaching, based on best available evidence
